Into The Gap

Gaps are strange things.  They are points of separation that can be either good or bad.  Let me define ‘gap’ and I believe this definition works regardless of the situation.  A gap is continue reading

Incarnational Passion and the Kaleo Life

Those who know me know that I am a passionate individual and believe we ought to be doers, leading from postures of passionate conviction.  This website was birthed from this conviction.  Yet three movements in my life converged this past week to lead me to ask these questions: continue reading

What’s Your Life Worth?

A New Year’s resolution that I made in 2009 and recommitted to doing in 2010 was spiritual journaling.  I’ve never been good at journaling, but by following the Life Journal Plan developed by Wayne Cordeiro, I have found spiritual journaling to not only be doable but very rewarding.  This year, with the help of LifeChurch.tv’s YouVersion of the bible and the ability to collaborate with others who are journaling, my spiritual walk is taking on new and richer dimensions.  Not only am I able to share what God has been revealing and speaking to me but I am able to learn from others as they listen to God and share their discoveries.

Urgent or Important?

Every day I have to make a conscious choice to live Kaleo.  As much as I desire to be wholly available intensely passionate for the Lord, so far in my journey, it hasn’t come naturally nor easily.  It takes continue reading

Vandalism of God’s Shalom

I just started reading Cornelius Plantinga’s book Not the Way it’s Supposed to Be: a breviary of sin

I’ve been immediately taken with his understanding of sin as the Vandalism of God’s Shalom.  Shalom continue reading

The Treasure Principle

It has been said that our behavior reveals our beliefs.  That is, what I truly believe and value is reflected in what I do and even how I do it.

I watched the movie Duplicity with continue reading

Do you want to be a Star?

What kid hasn’t dreamed of one day being a star?  As a boy, I dreamed of being Fred Biletnikoff and every time we played football games with the neighbor kids, I imagined myself playing for the Oakland Raiders and catching the winning touchdown pass.  When I played basketball, I was Magic Johnson.  For you, it might have been a movie star or a rock star but at some point, we all want to be good enough at what we do to be recognized for it.

But what does God see as ’star-worthy’?  continue reading

God’s Vantage Point

Have you ever wished to know, even if but for a moment, what your future might hold? Wouldn’t it be great to know if your next sales call would be successful? If your new business venture would take-off? If your marriage would go the distance? If your kids would turn out all right? If, if, if. Wouldn’t it be great, if for just one moment, we could see the future from God’s Vantage point? continue reading

GPS, John Wesley’s Quadrilateral, & the Kaleo Life

Our family has a minivan that has a GPS (global positioning system) in it.  This little device, built-in to the console of our van, has proved invaluable in helping us navigate short trips through unfamiliar cities and guided us home from long road-trips.  It has continue reading
